1. What is Fecic Goalkeepers?

Fecic Goalkeepers is a palette editor designed specifically for the goalkeeper's uniforms, originally distribuited by Gerson Salas on his now defunct website, www.fecic.es.tl. It allows you to edit all goalkeeper colours, including the training mode's goalkeeper as well as those from the All Star teams. According to Gerson, Fecic stands for "Federación de Clubes de International Superstar Soccer Custom", or in english, Federation of Custom International Superstar Soccer Teams.

It was coded by DjLamomia on 2009 and uploaded by me, Lusofonia, on 2021. His website is now offline, but archived on the Wayback Machine. I (Lusofonia) am uploading this to RHDN not only for archiving purposes, but also because it'll certainly be useful to someone else other than me. There are many sites with this tool on many sites, and Gerson's website doesn't say anything about redistribuiting this tool. In general, romhackers are content with their work being uploaded to mirrors, specially when they've lost their original links.

2. How to use Fecic Goalkeepers?

Create a folder where you'll put your ISSD ROM (compatible with american roms as well as the hacks, search for it on the internet), "gk.bmp" (required file) as well as the tool's executable file. They all have to be in the same folder. It is recommended that you put all FECIC tools in the same folder. Remember to put a header in the rom, you can use TUSH, which can be downloaded from RHDN, to add a header to it. Rename your rom to "FECIC.1" (all caps). You need to see the file extension so you can change it from .smc or .sfc to .1 extension. Google up some tutorials to get help on that. Now, open the tool. You'll see a window open. This tool is very intuitive, so this won't need translation, for the most part. Team names are in spanish.

On the top there's two buttons pointing left and right, as well as the team's name. Use that to change teams. Teams are shown according to their hex code and not how they appear in-game, so they're in the wrong order. Because of the wrong order, the number to the left of the name doesn't matter.

Click on the spherical buttons on the right menu to choose what you want to edit. The translation is:

Cabello > Hair
Piel 1-4* > Skin 1-4*
Camisa 1-4 > Uniform 1-4
Pants* > Pants*

*: The Piel 4 and Pants have asterisks on them. Piel 4 is because not only it is used in the skin, but it is also used in the glove, so the glove is the same color as the skin. Pants not only is the color of the player's pants, but it also is the color of the boots, so changing that will change the boots too.

Once you click one of the buttons representing the section you want to edit, you can use arrows to change the RGB values. The RGB values range from 0 to 31. Once you're done, press "Guardar en archivo" to save your progress.

On the top-left there is a button that says "Opciones". That's the options menu. Once you click it, three options will appear:

Guardar al archivo - Saves your progress, same as the save button.
Información - View copyright info.
Salir - Closes the window, same as pressing the "X" to close it.

3. Troubleshooting

Q: Why is the player's preview black?
A: The utility is not being able to find "gk.bmp", make sure you haven't renamed it by accident, as well as that it's in the same folder as the rom as well as the executable file.

Q: The uniforms are all wrong! How can I fix it?
A: You've probably got a bad rom, redownload it from somewhere else.

Q: My changes didn't take effect! Why?
A: You need to save them. Then, close and re-open the emulator you're using, as to reload the rom.

Q: Does it work with roms other than the U one?
A: No, but it works with hacks, like Futebol Brasileiro, Ronaldinho Soccer, Futbol Argentino etc.

Q: It's in spanish! How do I know what's written?
A: Refer to the translation guide in section 2, or use google translate for team names.
